Valuable Subscription Benefits Help FlexJobs Member Earn More, Work Less

Almost every career is subject to the whims of the economy. Restructuring, downsizing, or layoffs—you name it, jobs can change on a dime. And whether it happens out of the blue or you see it coming, when your employment situation changes, it may be time to start looking for a new job.

One of the advantages of a FlexJobs membership is the members-only access to our jobs database. Here you’ll find thousands of jobs that are pre-screened by our team to ensure that all of the postings are legitimate roles, not scams that waste your time (or money)!

When Kitty H. realized her company was about to restructure her full-time job, she joined FlexJobs. And though she knew what to expect from her search for a remote job, Kitty never guessed where her FlexJobs membership would take her.

Woman Works Less, Makes More With Flexible Job

Planning Ahead

Kitty realized her hours at her full-time remote job were likely to be cut, so she joined FlexJobs to start her job search. She knew she wanted to stick with remote work. “I had been working virtually for over nine years,” Kitty explains. “Had you asked me 10 years ago [about working in an office], I’d answer with a resounding yes. Now, I would never go back to working at an office.”

As she expected, Kitty’s hours were drastically cut. “I still wanted a virtual job because it’s been wonderful for me. I live in the north, and I don’t have to worry about bad weather anymore. I also like being home with my pets and taking care of them.”

While Kitty could have conducted her job search using many of the free options out there, she opted for a paid FlexJobs membership instead. Why? “I think it is the best service out there. They check on the companies to make sure they are legit. Although I had to pay a little bit, it was a much safer environment. I had issues with other companies, which I found out were scammers later.”

Using FlexJobs to the Fullest

Kitty took advantage of everything a FlexJobs membership offers and advises other members to do the same. “Training is offered every week, which I went to. Tests for skills are also helpful.”

She also recommends that job seekers take advantage of the advanced search options, like filters, to help narrow your search results. “You can make sure the job is applicable to your location, and you don’t waste so much time applying for jobs that aren’t available in your state.”

And Kitty signed up for the discounted career coaching as well. “I did hire FlexJobs coaching and had my resume rewritten, which helped me get through the ATS systems much better.”

The End Result

In the end, Kitty landed a job as a contract Executive Assistant with a company that Profit Factory matched her with. What’s interesting about her new position, though, is that now she’s working part-time instead of full-time, something she never considered before.

“I didn’t really consider part-time until I realized I could make the same as I was working full-time. I’m making a better salary than I was before and working fewer hours.” Kitty’s new role also gives her more control over her daily schedule. Some days she starts early and is done early, and other days she starts working later and “gets done when I like!”
